RM “Barney” Poole founded Performance Physical Therapy in 2003 after many years of leadership with The Human Performance and Rehabilitation Centers of Columbus, GA. 

Barney founded PPT on the principles that he passes on to all of the patients that he encounters: respect, integrity, honesty, and a desire to help all patients feel and be “better”. 

I had the privilege of working with Barney as I transitioned into the profession from physical therapy school. It was an opportunity to be mentored and educated not only on what it meant to be a good physical therapist but also what it meant to treat others with the dignity and respect they deserve.

I've often said that if there is a person more dedicated to our profession than Barney I would like to meet them. Barney has served on the state and national level through the years and continues to dedicate himself to improving our profession.

Of the many contributions he has made, I am extremely proud of his efforts to help modernize our state Practice Act. This bill was signed into law as HB 505 by Governor Deal in 2015 and improved access to care for the patients we serve.

As our new chapter begins, it is my desire at Pace Physical Therapy to carry on the legacy of my mentor and continue treating patients in a welcoming, friendly and fun environment.
